SFTP very slow transfer speed

Hi!

Just wanted to double check something. I have been doing testing between SFTP and regular file copy and SFTP gets a max bandwidth of 10 MB/S (when using the 'Fast' option on ssh properties) and with regular file copy I can saturate easily the 1GB link up to 100 MB/S. Is this difference on speed normal? I remember using SCP instead of SFTP and being much faster as well, but the option is shown now as 'obsolete' and actually it doesn't even work.

I understand SFTP has additional overhead due to encryption and protocol design but are these expected speeds?

It can probably be optimized in Syncovery, I will look into it a bit later this year.

Thanks! I did a bit more tests and with big files it seems i get a bit more throughput, for my use case good enough , but if optimizations can be done, they would be welcome

In my tests, it matched our surpassed transfer speeds of a well known open source tool that is generally used as a reference for SFTP functionality.
