Syncovery from remote server

Postby StangManOK on Wed Jan 03, 2018 1:11 pm

Sorry for the double post. I posted in "Technical Support" forum first and realized that it might should go here. I'll remove whichever isn't appropriate.

Setup:
Backup Server - "Backups" (Windows Server 2016)
File Server - "FileServer1" (Windows Server 2008)
Software: Syncovery 7.95e x64

"Backups" is not part of the domain and is only used as a backup repository. It is required to pull the backups from the domain instead of pushing them to "Backups" so that it is secured separate from the domain (No domain admin access). I have this setup and working for the most part; connecting via UNC to "FileServer1" and syncing to "Backups". The problem is, since I'm running Syncovery from "Backups" it cannot utilize VSS to synced locked files. Is there any way "Backups" can call the VSS service on "FileServer1" to do the shadow copy when needed? I hoped that the remote service would allow something like that, but it doesn't appear so.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello,
no, unfortuantely Syncovery itself needs to run on the machine where VSS is required.
