Sync large files via ftp

Postby hamaca on Fri Jul 15, 2016 1:38 pm

Hi everybody,

I´m looking into the mac software to regularly check ftp servers for new files.
Those files usually are very large media files and grow for a long time.
Is it possible to configure syncovery to start downloading after the files are no more growing for a period of time (5 minutes)?

Thanks

Best

This feature is not available. However, there are a few ways to handle the situation.

You can try the filter File Age: over 5 minutes. This would work if the files' timestamps are continuously updated while the files are growing.

You can ask the people that upload these files to use Syncovery to upload them, with the setting "Automatically resume (copy with temporary filenames). Incomplete uploads with temporary filenames will be recognized by Syncovery and will not be downloaded until the file is complete. Maybe other uploading software also supports using temporary filename extensions which you could exclude in Syncovery.

Finally, but maybe not ideal, you could let Syncovery repeatedly download the file, but appending the downloaded part rather than restarting from 0. The setting for this is under Files->More:
X Always Append Smaller Destination Files
