OneDrive for Business 260MB file limit

Postby wizard-ict on Tue Feb 23, 2016 10:05 am

Hi

I'm trying to back up a number of files to OneDrive for Business. The smaller files back up without an issue, however anything bigger fails at 260MB (exactly the same place every time). I have tried several files all with the same result.

As far as I can see this is not a documented limit with OneDrive, is this an issue with Syncovery?

The logs show:

23/02/2016 14:42:29 OneDrive for Business: Starting upload of database.iso (8088388608 Bytes)
SSL Connection error 5 in SendBuffer (2), returning WSASYSNOTREADY.
SynHttpsPut: SOCKET ERROR 10091 (PUT https://mybusiness-my.sharepoint.com/_a ... o:/content),
23/02/2016 14:44:30 OneDrive for Business: Exception uploading database.iso: NewFileItem.FileId is empty (ESynDriveCheckErrorException)

************************************************************************
ERROR (ESynDriveCheckErrorException): NewFileItem.FileId is empty @ 0000000001290884
************************************************************************

I realise I can split the files in to smaller "part" files, but I don't want to have to do this at 250MB, that wouldn't be a realistic limit.

OneDrive for Business currently does not have an API for large files, so it is a matter of luck if the normal API can do it or not. There is no specific limit, but extremely large files simply will not work. I am sure Microsoft will be working on this.

No problem, thanks for the information.

On a more positive note I've also been testing the Hubic option and that seems to be working well. Thank you for your hard work on implementing it, it's something I've been hoping for for a while.

There is a large file upload API now and it will be supported by Syncovery 7.45 this week.

Brilliant, thanks for letting me know. I will update at the weekend and give it a try.

Thanks for all of your hard work as usual.

I've just done the same test as previously (around 9GB of data with 1 file of 7GB and a few smaller files) and the backup has completed successfully, whereas it was failing on the large file previously. I'll do some more testing over the weekend but everything looks good :D

The backup isn't the fastest (it took me around 1 hour 30 compared to 1 hour with Hubic) but this is more likely a reflection on OneDrive than Syncovery. As Office 365 comes with 1TB of space, I can now make some use of it as free backup storage, so I'm not going to complain if it's a little slow.

Thanks again.
