Multi Edit tool revisited

for mass editing of profiles
there is a thread from about year 2010, related to the multi edit tool, and posibly putting settings in there, to allow for editing multiple profiles.
i went to that tool, looks like just those that were included in year 2010 are present.
any plans to add to this
or
are the XML files the only way to mass edit stuff?

I'd like a way to EDIT the options, to the EXISTING profiles; even if an export/import, but if you export then impor the XML, you would lose the zip/encryption password settings.
any way to OVERLAY the new edited settings into an existing profiile?
the Multi-edit tool would be great for this

For the time being, you need to use XML or csv export and import.
