Excluded files are not removed in Exact Mirror

Postby zsero on Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:22 am

Hi,

I'm just evaluating the latest Syncovery before purchase. I have the following problem:

When you exclude a path using Exclusion masks, it's not being removed from the destination. I've read the help and this should be the difference between "Don't Copy" and "Ignore Totally". However it's not the case, both of the work exactly the same, without removing the files. Is this a bug?

No it is not a bug. The difference between Don't Copy and Ignore Totally is that when you choose Don't Copy, the excluded items would be removed from the destination if they are also gone on the source side.

What you need to do is click on the Configure button for the Exact Mirror and look at the settings there.

OK, it solved this issue. Now all files/folders are removed but the reparse points (look at my other topic) still exists.

Yes those need to be cleaned up manually, or you need to start over with an empty destination after changing the reparse point settings.

I would like to have a feature under the right click menu which could clean up the right side from excluded files.

I can do it now by duplicating the profile and changing the method to the mirror copy (with the Removal settings there), but that means I would have to do all changes to masks on the both profiles. I can also edit the original profile without duplicate, but then I'll have to do that for all the profiles and also switch back (lot of work).

So maybe a shortcut to the menu which creates a temporary (run once and automatically delete after success) profile with mirror copy toggled along with "Removal of Deselected Items.." settings?

Hello,

please send log files from manual and scheduled runs to support@syncovery.com so I can compare them.

You can get to the Logs folder via the File menu. Please pick exactly one log file from each kind of run so that the problem can be seen.

Cheers,
Tobias
