Error with ExtremeSyncService.exe 4.88

Hi Tobias,

I've upgraded a number of servers to 4.88 last weekend. I've noticed some items in Event Viewer since this took place. Seems to be happening on a number of servers, but not nessicarily affecting the application. (Syncs are working fine.)

This error seems to come and go, on multiple servers.

A number of questions:

Are you sure that the installer replaced the ExtremeSyncService.exe file? For example, if it was still running, then the installer would have asked for a reboot and if it isn't done, there is a version mismatch between the service and the GUI. You can look in Program Files in the Superflexible folder to see if the date and times of the two main EXE files match. Please let me know what date the ExtremeSyncService.exe file is.

If it is the latest version - are you using FTP?

On all servers, both files are 2/4/2010 9:47 (ExtremeSyncService.exe & SuperFlexibleSynchronizer.exe)

I always disable the service before upgrades to avoid the server reboots. On all instances I used the auto-installer from the 'Help' menu.

FTP / SFTP & UNC shares are used in all instances of SF for nurmerous profiles. In some cases we have a couple hundred profiles all schelduled to run every few minutes. Because of this I have been unable to link the error in event-viewer to a specific job or job type.


Previous version (if it matters) was 4.64

Can you check the FTP profiles? I think it would help changing them to use FTP Library 1 rather than 3. I think the error occurs in FTP library #3. You can choose this on the Internet dialog in the profiles.

I was able to track this down. It was unrelated to FTP. The error was introduced in v4.88 and has been fixed now (v4.88b). It was caused by the addition of the new feature "Send Daily Summary" which you will find on the Notifications tab sheet of the Program Settings dialog. Now everything should be fine.
